Fluffy Radio Airplay

Fighting Demons has notched up major airplay with Radio DJ's in USA, United Kingdom, France and Israel among the broadcasters who have launched the Fluffy Jackets on an unsuspecting public.

One of the staunchest supporters have been DJ Dr. Wart Hoover, who runs a radio talk show called "The Blues Hour" at Severn FM in the UK. Dr Wart Hoover hosted a special Fighting Demons radio release party on the 3rd of March, coinciding with the official release date of the album.

Dr Wart Hoover has since played our single several times and we can not reccommend this show highly enough. Not only because they play The Fluffy Jackets, but because he always plays GREAT blues music. The last show included excellent selections from Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Volbeat, Rev Horton Heat, Brett Detar and The Mighty Mojos. Do yourself a favor and check the latter band out, they are just amazing!

The Blues Hour happens every Monday at 2200h (GMT) on the UK radio station www.severnfm.com where you can also stream it live. It is also aired on Sunday's at 2130h on the French radio station www.ZevoX.fr.

The Israeli radio show Blues Mitkadem premiered our single "Why Don't You Smile" along with a well balanced review of Sun Studio artists and Sam Phillips legacy last month. Radio DJ Yotam Hershovitz also featured Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck and Otis Rush on his show. Otis Rush happen to be a firm favorite here at Fluffy HQ. His excellent song "I Can't Quit You Baby" even got inducted in The Blues Hall of Fame back in 1994.

Blues Mitkadem has since also aired the title track "Fighting Demons". This particular broadcast included Tina Turner, Dusty Springfield, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Kinks, Black Sabbath and Howlin' Wolf.

Meanwhile, up in Scotland, local DJ Graeme Scott featured our single "Why Don't You Smile" several times on the excellent Victoria Network Radio programme "World of Music". Incidentally, this radio station was (to our knowledge) the very first radio station to play our single as early as 26th of January 2014.

Not only that, but Graeme also hosted a Special Fluffy Jackets Pre-release Spotlight in February where he played three tracks from the debut album, including "Six Strings & a Hope", "Travelling Shoes" and "Why Don't You Smile". The in-between song chatter from Graeme made the show very enjoyable, and he also played a great selection including The Doors, AC/DC, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and The Everly Brothers to mention a few. It was a very enjoyable talk-show, and we will see if we can find a way to put this show on the site for you all to hear. Watch this space..

After the album got out in the USA we received support from Dave Mash, the legendary Rock DJ, Rolling Stone music critic and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee member, who played our single "Why Don't You Smile" on his Sunday morning Sirius Radio talkshow Kick out the Jams. The radio show has over 1 million listeners in the USA, so this was the first major airplay for us in North America.

Journey's dead end
Dave Marsh is known for his honest "no bullshit" reviews of bands. One of the best Dave Mash quotes is from 1983, when in the Rolling Stone Record Guide, Marsh called the rockers in Journey "a dead end for San Francisco area rock." He awarded every single Journey album released up to that point the minimum possible score of 1/5 stars.

We still wait to hear Mr Marsh final verdict on The Fluffy Jackets. Surely our album can not be that bad. At least we hope to be better than Journey. We'll have to wait and see.

The Fluffy Jackets would like to thank DJ Reverend Rabbit and the Support staff at The Alchemical Radio Show at KWTF in Sonoma County in California USA who gave us a glowing review and played some proper blues from our album, namely the "Mean ol Frisco" track that feature West Weston on duet vocals and harmonica. This was the first radio station in the US to feature The Fluffy Jackets, so Thank You KWTF.
